Silent Pictures® goes BIG for Ditch Witch®
Posted by Acoustics First in Absorption, Classrooms, Customer Feedback, Product Applications, School & Educational Facilities, Teaching Rooms, Uncategorized on September 16, 2021

When Ditch Witch® needed to acoustically treat their training room, they had a big and bold idea – take a cool promo photo and use that to make a Silent Pictures® mosaic! The required scale made it easier to break up the photo into a 3’x3′ matrix, which also eased the shipping and installation process! The final product (at over 9 feet tall and 15 feet wide) is imposing, and while it isn’t quite life-sized, the impact is indeed massive!
“Thank you so much for all the help you and your team did on this project. Our training room is complete now.

We are over the moon happy.”
Little Safari Day Care – creating peace (and quiet), one pyramid at a time.

With more parents returning to the office, we’ve recently received a handful of treatment requests from day-care facilities dealing with an influx of boisterous children.
Little Safari Day care reached out to us in July 2021 for help with their space. Little Safari’s multi-purpose room is used for play, music, reading, arts/crafts, meals, games etc….. lots of moving and laughing = lots of noise! According to the owner “The noise level is deafening at times to the point you can’t hear anything, just noise”

The fanciful mural on the playroom wall looks great, but when you look closer, that glossy painted surface reflects sound like glass! Luckily, Fireflex Pyramid foam can quiet that down!
Technical consultant Cameron Girard settled on a remediation package that included FireFlex Acoustic Pyramid Foam panels distributed throughout the ceiling of the multi-purpose room. Safe to say, they were very happy with the results!!

The checkerboard install of the foam helped to distribute the absorption over the loudest areas of the room.
From the owner…..“Cameron, Thank you for all of your help and expertise in sound suppression!!! I have had people tell me upon entering the front door “wow, it’s much quieter in here” Such a noticeable difference. You may have saved my hearing and sanity!!!”
Sonora® Panels @ Vine and Branches
Posted by Acoustics First in Absorption, Customer Feedback, DIY, Multipurpose Rooms, Product Applications, Worship Facilities on June 18, 2021
Sometimes you don’t have a large budget for an installation crew, but are in desperate need of acoustic treatment. Also, in complex spaces it helps to have a guide. So, when Acoustics First® was contacted to design a layout for Vine & Branches, our team gave them some extra help.

Having a projector area was also required, and there was concern about having a large section of wall that was untreated. The solution was in install two Ultra-White Sonora® panels at the projection location, and use the panels themselves as a screen – a method that has been used in many environments in the past.

Note: These installers were not professionals, and most of the installation was done by one person – who commented…
Looks pretty much like the CAD drawing you guys did for us. I did 90% of the installation by myself… So, if any of your customers ask about installation, it *can* be done by an untrained person.
With some sound advice and a good guide, any environment can benefit from some acoustic treatment.
Boys & Girls Club is (Cloudscape®) Baffled!
Posted by Acoustics First in Absorption, Customer Feedback, Fitness, Gymnasium, Multipurpose Rooms, Product Applications, Products on February 3, 2021
A large gymnasium/basketball court made of concrete blocks and metal is not an acoustically tame place. Add dozens of active boys and girls and the cacophony of sound can be a little overwhelming. This is exactly the reason why the Boys & Girls club reached out to Acoustics First®.
After a quick consultation, it was decided that the most efficient and cost effective option was installing Cloudscape® baffles to tame the overall reverb and sound pressure levels in the gym. Because the baffles are hanging with all of the sides are exposed, this increases their effective surface area and, in turn, improves their ability to absorb noise. This efficiency, ease of installation, and their relatively low cost is why they were the perfect option for this space.
Unity Spiritual Center of Woodstock – Acoustic Update

When the Unity Spiritual Center of Woodstock wanted to use their sanctuary for more varied community events, it became apparent that they needed to address the acoustics of the space to meet the demands of those functions.
Acoustician Cameron Girard ran reverb calculations and provided a comprehensive treatment proposal utilizing Sonora wall panels. Sonora panels are a great solution for worship and performance spaces, offering excellent broadband sound absorption in an attractive, customizable finish. In addition to controlling the specular wall-to-wall reflections (echoes) which degrade speech and music, the recommended treatment aimed to reduce excessive reverberation by approx. 50%, significantly improving intelligibility. Cameron’s clear panel layout facilitated a simple installation that was performed by handy volunteers from USGW’s congregation.
Sonora Panels tamed reflections from the back wall and lowered the overall intensity. This increased clarity while keeping the ambiance that the congregants enjoyed. Acoustic changes that tame a space don’t need to destroy its acoustic character… they can be focused to manage some of the elements that produce unwanted artifacts.

Sonora Panels help to tame the harsh reflections coming from the back wall, corner, and angled fascia.
The front of the room received some more Sonora Panels, but reinforcing surfaces from the ceiling were left reflective to allow any unamplified voices from the stage to carry into the audience.

Notice how the Sonora panels are used to control the reflections on the back and sides of the stage, but the ceiling is left mostly reflective.
Now a full year removed from this project, How did it turn out?
”The sanctuary at the Unity Spiritual Center of Woodstock turned out beautifully both visually and acoustically. The folks at USCW are very pleased and the old sanctuary now has new life with more activities and recognition from the community as a great new venue for many things both church and community based including concerts and stage productions.” – George Muligano USCW
